Bernard Magrez, autodidact, nicknamed the man with 40 castles, became a major player in Bordeaux but also in the wine world at large. In 1990, he founded the Bernard Magrez group and acquire its first château, Pape Clement, Grand Cru Classé of Graves.

25 years later, he owns 1000 hectares including 4 in Bordeaux Grands Crus Classé, in Languedoc-Roussillon, Provence and South America.
